Where Have I Been and What Is New?
Well, I haven’t been laying around eating bon-bons, that’s for sure. I might lay around and eat bon-bons if they happen to be verified as gluten free…sounds mildly appealing. The Gluten Free RN has been busy. I have now been officially, federally trademarked as the Gluten Free RN. There is much work to be done regarding education, I continue to be amazed and horrified by what I see and hear.
The biggest news: I am opening an office in downtown Corvallis, Oregon this month. The GF Godesses spoke to me, very clearly, and I will not ignore them ever again. The space is funky, I painted it a lovely shade of orange, ordered pieces and parts such as a new door, window coverings and furniture. If I put it together, people will come. They are lining up to find up what I am ’selling’. Hmmm. Stand by to find out. There is a nice little buzz regarding this funky office space, conveniently located on the same block as The Living Earth Bakery, which only sells gluten free bake goods and bread. Check them out on line at www.livingearthbakery.com . Better yet, visit them at 363 SW Jefferson Ave., Corvallis, OR and try their yummy cinnamon buns (my favorite) or their tasty cinnamon bread. The owners, Jenney and Eric are thankfully VERY strict about ALL of the ingredients that go into the products.
I have decided to put on my big girl panties and start speaking up about dermatitis herpetiformis. The woman touted as the expert on DH apparently doesn’t like to share. Apparently she has spoken and written about DH, but I am unable to unearth her written word. Where is it buried? So as a sufferer of DH, and I do mean sufferer, I will soon de-throne ‘the expert’ and do a bit of writing and speaking regarding this interesting part of celiac disease.
I have gone and will soon go to another celiac disease conference. These events definitely deserve to be written about and commented on regarding the continued mis-information, especially from the medical community! Otherwise, I am very pleased to see all of the independent, inventive and plucky entrepreneurs developing new GF food products. Stay tuned. I intend to showcase each new product.
The Gluten Free RN is back, trademarked and ready to roll!
